My mom has always been the strongest person I know. She has worked hard her whole life and still was there for us in the most pivotal moments in my and my sister’s lives. It has been hard this 5ft 3in giant, shrinking into a morsel of the larger than life person she use to be. While she will always be a superhero to me; watching her forget my children names, not recognizing her own house and suspicious of everyone she lives with for years. It feels unbearably for me but I can only imagine how she feels trying to navigate unknown territory without a map. How can we help a seemingly hopeless situation? Although I’m still struggling with this, maybe some of what I learned can help you. Taking care of an aging parent while simultaneously managing your own family and home life can be a challenging and emotionally demanding task. It requires a delicate balance, as you strive to provide the best possible care for your parent while ensuring the well-being and happiness of your immediate family.
